| | MISSION OF THE FOUNDATION: - To provide support to head and neck cancer patients throughout the year
- To educate children and adults in the disease process, treatment, and prevention of head and neck cancer
- To support ongoing research in head and neck oncology
Goals & Objectives: - Increase the activity directed toward head and neck cancer prevention by making these cancers a visible component of preventive programs for tobacco related diseases.
- In cooperation with the local chapters of the Yul Brynner Foundation (YBF), the Oral Cancer Foundation, Support for People with Oral, Head and Neck Cancer(SPOHNC), International Association of Laryngectomies (IAL) and WebWhispers, provide community awareness talks to local area schools and organizations about head and neck cancer with an emphasis on prevention and the avoidance of tobacco products
- Educate and instruct local dentists, physicians, and other primary health care providers in the use of oral cancer examinations as an opportunity to identify patients who use tobacco and to counsel them about their risks of developing cancers of the head and neck region
| | Design: Oral, Head And Neck Cancer Awareness Week:
An annual event dedicated to the education, rehabilitation, support, early diagnosis, prevention, and cure of head and neck cancer. This event can be started by anyone in any community. YBF will provide information to assist individuals who want to organize a local event in their community. How do I begin? - Education:
City, State, national and international outreach lectures to schools, businesses, and organizations - Rehabilitation:
Literature, lectures, and personal counseling for the rehabilitation of cancer patients - Support:
Formation of head and neck cancer survivor support groups in every community - Diagnosis:
